Barbara Pike
Counselling Psychologist.
Barbara is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, and is a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society. She provides psychological therapy for individual adults and clinical supervision for professionals. Barbara has training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Barbara’s areas of interest and experience are in working with:
Anxiety
Depression
Substance use problems
Obsessions and compulsions
Trauma and abuse (including posttraumatic stress)
Self-esteem and self-confidence issues
Stress/burnout
Supervision for psychologists
Barbara completed her undergraduate training at the University of Auckland before transferring to AUT University to complete a Master of Health Science in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology. She has been a registered psychologist since 2014.
Barbara has a range of clinical experience having worked with adults who have co-existing mental health and addictions problems at Waitemata District Health Board for the majority of her career. She is also registered with ACC as a sensitive claims assessor and treatment provider for individuals who have experienced sexual abuse.
As a Counselling Psychologist, Barbara has a strengths-based approach to practice with a focus on developing a broader sense of health and wellbeing, alongside addressing specific mental health concerns.
Barbara works on Fridays at Pollen Street Practice.
